What an incredible last few days with the fantastic snowfall and perfect temperatures for a winter snowdrama! Yes, the Mayor made road travel “Red Condition” on Monday, the schools are still closed on this Wednesday, the roads have four inch ice holes for some slipping and sliding, but the scenery is outstanding. I have seen frost and even great snow fall on trees, but the wet snow pack and freeze from Sunday reminds me of the cleansing the Lord Jesus provided for my sins and yours. Continue reading

Insights: Baggage
Do you know that one of the most debilitating things in life is baggage? Baggage is great for air travel, but I’m talking about mental, emotional and social baggage. That kind of baggage is a problem in life, because we are creatures who tend to hold onto baggage and even nurture it along. If we would let go of ours, we would have much better relationships, accomplish much more and have so much more joy in life! Yet, we like to hold on and it weighs us down. Continue reading
Insights: Cold
Here in Central Indiana, we’re enjoying cold conditions like much of the rest of the country. The high today is supposed to be a wimpy -11 degrees Fahrenheit. Wimpy, only because that is not nearly as cold as several other states, just cold for Indiana. Continue reading
Insights: Call on Him!
While reading through Genesis 4, I noticed a very interesting phrase that says, “And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.” (Gen. 4:26) Why does it say “…men began to call on the name…” when Adam used to sit in Bible class with the Lord (Gen. 3:8)? The Lord came to him! Shouldn’t man just wait for God to come to him? Continue reading
Insights: What is New Years?
Most holidays are clear in their intent. For example, Valentine’s Day celebrates romance, Father’s Day celebrates fathers, Mother’s Day celebrates mothers and so on. But none of those hit the celebration ticker like New Years. So is there a purpose for New Year’s Day besides turning the calendar over to the next year? Continue reading
Insights: What is Christmas?
Christmas is the second best holiday, only because Resurrection Sunday is the best! Christmas foreshadows Resurrection Sunday, because without the birth of the humanity of Jesus, there could have been no death of Jesus on the cross for the sins of the human race. That’s why children of every culture welcome Jesus at Christmas time! Continue reading
Insights: Phil Robertson – The Hunter’s Truth
Phil Robertson always speaks his mind in a clear and concise way. He even does a good job of quoting Scripture where he can. He often is a great spokesman for the cause of Christ.
And in his interview comments recently with GQ, he made a statement regarding the illogical nature of the homosexual manner of living. He said that the homosexual lifestyle went against the Law of Nature. Continue reading
Insights: Stretch to Imitate
I love Josh Georgen’s testimony he gave on October 13. Here is a man (along with his wife Nicole, of course!) who is doing a great job raising his kids. I appreciate his honesty and transparency about how he pursues God’s way for parenting, but also sees himself fall short. Do you know his five children? They are Liliana, who is eight, Jubilee and Elena, six-year-old twins, then there is Josiah, who is three and finally, Adelise, who is one. Does anyone know what it is like to keep five children under eight on track for the Lord? How many meals is that each week? How many prayers is that? How many exhortations, rebukes, and hugs? Continue reading
Insights: Listen and Live
I confess that I continue in life-long-learning. I am amazed at how much God continues to teach me from His Word, in life and from other people. I like to be right. I’m often looking for the right answer, because I would like to be right. My Father and Lord are righteous, so that is only natural. It just seems like a life-time is necessary to learn everything. That makes life interesting. Continue reading
Insights: God’s Work in and through You!
I’ve begun reading through Scripture again (a little early) for my devotions as I read through Scripture each year, and wanted to get a jumpstart on 2014. I was motivated in the study of “The Joy of the Promise” recently and saw a remarkable phrase in Genesis 4:1, “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.” Continue reading
