About shepherdbryan

My passion is to disciple and see men discipled in every area of their life to see the multiplication principle actually work in a 100 year generational blessing. As go men in the church, so goes the church. As go men in the nation, so goes the nation. Fortunately, because men have often not taken their spiritual role to the limit, God has raised up many godly women to carry the torch where men have laid it aside. May God rapidly raise up men for the next generation of leaders to the Fourth Generation of spiritual leaders! As men lead in a godly way, women will follow in a godly way and that people will be blessed of the Lord.

MSG: Train Your Replacements: How to Discern Truth: 1 Timothy 4:1-5

This message was presented on March 23, 2014 as part of the 1 Timothy series.

Alertness. Alertness is one of the most important concepts of your life.  When I was going through my flight training, my reflexes and coordination were not alert to what winds could do to that TH55 (training helicopter). We called it the “eggbeater,” because it beat us up.  After I soloed, I was often by myself, which meant I no longer had an IP (instructor pilot) there to take hold of the controls. I had to be alert.

Book Review: Raising Godly Children in an ungodly World by Ken Ham and Steve Ham

“Raising Godly Children” is an excellent approach to raising children. While it is not filled with an exposition of Scripture or hundreds of principles or techniques and methods, it does provide essentials for establishing children as arrows into the next generation. Currently, even the church is failing to launch children into the next generation as 80-90% of children are leaving the church when they graduate from high school. Ken and Steve Ham (brothers) highlight the crucial premise for raising godly children – build relationships with your children founded upon the authority of God’s Word. Parents have the privilege to give an inheritance from God for their children to live up to for their children. Thus they must be people who rely on God for building and protecting their family from the enemy’s deception and distractions in the world with a gratefulness of being called into fulfilling the great commission.

Suffering: What are man’s ways of dealing with the suffering God allows? Part 3

This is Part 3 in answering the question, “What are man’s ways of dealing with the suffering God allows?” in the larger question, “How can a loving God allow suffering?”

Man’s Efforts to Deal with Problems

What are some of the man-centered ways of dealing with suffering? We need to look no further than the Garden of Eden and examine how Adam and Eve dealt with their failure, because it exposes how man deals with suffering. Suffering is NOT always or even often from personal sin, however, sin is what caused the first suffering in life. How Adam and Eve dealt with their sin-failure is often how many deal with suffering.  Man, when they exclude God from their lives, or do not depend on Him. Continue reading

Suffering: What are man’s ways of dealing with the suffering God allows? Part 2

This is Part 2 answering the question, “What are man’s ways of dealing with the suffering God allows?” in the larger question, “How can a loving God allow suffering?” Part 3 will be posted tomorrow.

Man is Rebellious and Inadequate

Man (natural man in contrast to spiritual man), apart from God, is rebellious and inadequate.1 When Adam and Eve had the best of everything  in the Garden of Eden, they fell to temptation, instead of relying upon God’s provision and protection (Gen. 3:1-6). In fact, all through history man has demonstrated his rebelliousness by suppressing the truth and instead of being thankful and giving God glory, he became futile (empty) in his thinking, Continue reading

MSG: Train Your Replacements: How to Live Godly 1 Timothy 3:16

This message was presented on March 16, 2014 as part of the series on 1 Timothy.

Would you agree with me it has been a long winter? Would you agree that there has been enough sickness for two years? This season has been a test to see if our lives as Christians will show the world that “Jesus is totally sufficient,” and that our joy is in Him, not circumstances. Two weeks ago, we examined 1 Timothy 3:14-15,

SGL: Considerations for Recruiting Leaders in your Home Group

A home group leader who likes to lead may do everything himself or with the help of his wife in his home. But if he does not recruit and disciple new leaders, it may reveal a selfish desire to maintain being the center of attention. The purpose of home groups is to multiply and hence recruit other leaders, which requires discipling participants to greater roles and opportunities of responsibility. Consider the following principles as you consider the potential of each person in yours:
