To skip over the shortest Psalm would be foolishness. Psalm 117, the shortest psalm, surrounds Psalm 118 with Psalm 119, the longest one. Psalm 117 is directive, hopeful and praise worthy. In all the joys and druthers of life, God is worthy of praise. Considering the redemption found only in the Lord Jesus motivates thankfulness to praise Him. Worshipping Him motivates your heart to lift your eyes heavenward for hope. Singing transforms your life to praise instead of self-pity. Then we slide into Psalm 118 with so many wonderful life-transforming principles. The middle verse of the Bible Continue reading

Book Review: The Secure Home by Joel M. Skousen
This was the second book loaned to me to get my take on Joel Skousen as an author and projector of sound advice (the first was Strategic Relocation). This tome (683 pages) is not for the weekend reader of fiction books. Skousen is an expert on preparation. He’s devoted his life to preparing for any situation, most of which has not happened and may never happen. However, for those who may see smoke on the horizon, and a building project in the future, Skousen provides a plethora of ideas on how to be wise about your home investment. Continue reading
Book Review: Strategic Relocation by Joel Skousen
I was loaned this book to read and found it most interesting. Skousen seems to ask the question, “Considering multiple threats to our wellbeing…and the political, economic and social environments, where is the best place to live?” Skousen doesn’t just point to a specific location. Instead he gives a strategic analysis of global geopolitics, geography and climate, freedoms and politics, crime and standard of living concerns and prospects for war, invasion and potential terrorism. This is not for the timid of heart. Continue reading
Wealth Inequality: Country
There is an Interesting article on David Stockman who warned of the wealth inequality in the United States.1 His problem isn’t with the wealthy achieving wealth through business or even through the stock market, but that the stock market is unusually propped up because of the Fed’s monetary policy of printing new money. Continue reading
Birthday Wishes: Insights
We celebrate birthdays as a way to acknowledge the Lord’s grace in our lives for each year of life. This life on earth is just a rehearsal for the real life to come in heaven for those who accept the Lord’s free gift of salvation. Moses wrote in his Psalm, Continue reading
Discipleship Cost: Insights
Discipleship is THE important decision once a person is saved. It is the most important activity in life after the point of salvation. It has been taught and directed by many authors and pastors. One of the main ingredients is “counting the cost.” In order to pursue discipleship, Jesus said, Continue reading
Free Enterprise Death: Country
Free Enterprise is reported to be declining. Breibart reports that since 2008 the number of startup companies lags behind the number of companies closing.1 That IS significant, because without Free Enterprise, Socialism will gain greater power. Socialism is a cooperative system of production, management and distribution by the government. It controls the provision for citizens according to its own rules. Free Enterprise is the initiative of citizens who take the risk to compete for a market share and trusting something other than government – it may be themselves, but many times it is people trusting the grace and mercy of the Lord’s blessing.
Free Enterprise is being choked out by the governmental rules and regulations. Today, there are so many rules protecting the worker that the employer loses hope in a profit. There are, however, many greedy Free Enterprise leaders who are far more concerned for themselves than the workers. While that may be selfishness on their part, it’s far better than government control. That has given great ammunition to Socialists to regulate Free Enterprise.
The death of Free Enterprise would continue to change America for the worse. Yet many American citizens want a handout rather than work for what they need. Therefore they turn directly or indirectly rely upon the government for provisions. The problem is man trusting in man rather than the Lord, “Thus says the LORD,
“Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the LORD. 6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. (Jer. 17:5-7 NKJ)
There is one solution and that is trusting the Lord’s blessing and mercy. I salute all who take the risk to start their own business. May they trust in the Lord, seeking His will, and waiting upon His blessing.

Vive La France!
There seems to be little question that the French are willing to confront the terrorists. I salute them and trust their vigilance and present determination will dig out the connecting cell groups and associated entities. I grieve the deaths of the hostages and decry the terrorists for their cowardly killing of innocents.
What puzzles me is how the French have more resources to deal with “citizens” than the United States as reported by Ray Kelly on a Sunday morning news report. We too often protect the rights of guilty people and drag out justice in an attempt to protect all people. The balance is very difficult, but it seems we take a naïve approach to the deceitfulness of wickedness. May we come to our senses!
Charlie Hebdo: Insights
The terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical publisher is just that – a terrorist attack. Whether Islam calls for killing those who demean an Islamic prophet (Koran), or not, highly planned attacks are not the solution. Then when a Muslim cleric defends the slaughter in Paris, there are obvious problems with the religion of “peace.”1 That would be like an evangelical pastor who believed someone on death row was innocent and the pastor openly declared an assault on the prison and killing of the guards would be appropriate. Fortunately masses in France are rising up against the attacks, but will the government have the “will” to stand up to the terrorists to not just capture them, but to remove them from being a threat? The Voice: Insights
“The Voice” is one of those reality television shows involving singing competition. It apparently includes coaching competition between the four judges who mentors contestants they have chosen. The winner gets 100,000 dollars and recording studio opportunities. There have been seven successful seasons according to NBC. People love to hear others sing. The voice is a strong force.
