About shepherdbryan

My passion is to disciple and see men discipled in every area of their life to see the multiplication principle actually work in a 100 year generational blessing. As go men in the church, so goes the church. As go men in the nation, so goes the nation. Fortunately, because men have often not taken their spiritual role to the limit, God has raised up many godly women to carry the torch where men have laid it aside. May God rapidly raise up men for the next generation of leaders to the Fourth Generation of spiritual leaders! As men lead in a godly way, women will follow in a godly way and that people will be blessed of the Lord.

Suffering: Will Restoration Happen in the Future from the Suffering God Allows? Part 2

This is Part 2 of 2 parts answering the question, “Will Restoration Happen in the Future from the Suffering God Allows?” in the larger question, “Why does a loving God allow suffering?”

Restoration Will Be Our Reality

Although the timing of death is unknown to us, it is a reality. While it grieves us to think about our own death, let alone deal with the loss of loved ones – especially those who are already suffering. But for those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus as Savior, there will be a restoration to the Lord in eternity. That restoration is a return to sinless perfection and spiritual intimacy with Him that existed in the Garden of Eden between Adam and the Lord. We will be free from the presence of sin and all of its horrible consequences.

This is Part 1 of 2 parts answering the question, “Will Restoration Happen in the Future from the Suffering God Allows?” in the larger question, “Why does a loving God allow suffering?” Part 2 will be posted tomorrow.

The presence of suffering is one of the major reasons why the world questions God. They ask, “If God is a loving God, why is there so much suffering?” They will further contend that either God is not aware of it, He is powerless to do anything about it, or He is not good. All of those statements are completely wrong, but are the reality for those struggling with understanding the character of God and all the pain and hardship that exist. Continue reading

Book Review: Joseph: From Pit to Pinnacle by Charles Swindoll

“Joseph” is a tremendously well written, concise study for small groups or individuals who need a lift in the midst of a discouraging world. Whether dealing with rejection, mistreatment or disrespect, the account of Joseph will restore your faith in the gracious, faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ. Joseph receives the most attention in the book of Genesis and rightly so, because he is a wonderful type of the Lord Jesus Christ who forgives and who is lifted from the pit to the pinnacle of the universe. Suffering: What are the Benefits of the Suffering God Allows? Part 5

This is Part 5 of 5 parts answering the question, “Suffering: What are the Benefits of the Suffering God Allows?” in the larger question, “Why does a loving God allow suffering?”

Good Can Come From Suffering

Every member of the human race will suffer in some way and while it is never enjoyable, the Bible teaches us that our trials can produce good. God loves us because He IS love. He loves His creation, but it defied His Word by sinning.

Fortunately, God can restore all things and will make all wrongs right when He removes sin from the world.

Even though God hates sin, He can never tempt, abandon, or hate anyone. He is always within the reach of our cry for help during our suffering. He has sent the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) to reassure us in the midst of our trials, and formed the Body of Christ to provide consolation by being His hands and feet. Just as Jesus wept over Lazarus’ death, so He weeps over our anguish because of its ultimate cause – the entrance of sin into the world. Our responsibility is to uphold each other as we go through our trials. Continue reading

Godly Responses During Suffering Manifest Glory

The key in suffering is to respond rather than react. If you put on the Lord Jesus Christ and arm yourself spiritually for the battle, you’ll overcome, Continue reading

Suffering Can Be Preventative

Suffering can be preventative when it keeps a person from making poor decisions or perpetuating wrong thinking. It’s like a warning light on the dashboard of a car. The light is not the problem, but warns of a problem in the car so that appropriate action can be taken and further harm can be avoided. In the same way, suffering can warn about the consequences of further sin and potential suffering. Larry Waters expertly writes about how the book of Job demonstrates this, Continue reading

Suffering Reveals Human Weakness

The fact that suffering reveals human weakness many not seem like a good thing, until you recognize that only God has all strength and He never designed us to independent of it. If fact, just the opposite is true. He desires that we be dependent upon Him for all situations. Paul wrote, Continue reading

Although suffering produces pain and anguish, it actually has benefits that you’ll miss if you focus only on the pain itself. If you get a “bird’s eye” view of it you’ll see that there are many benefits to suffering, yet in the intensity of the pain, they are often not easy to see. What are some of the benefits of suffering? Continue reading
