Insight: Christmas Eve Service

I enjoy Christmas Eve services as much as any worship service. It’s been a tradition at my old church to begin at 5 p.m. and then the family can enjoy a great meal together and spend the evening as a family waiting for the celebration of the birth of the Lord Jesus on Christmas Day that happened over 2000 years ago.

This year, we’ll be attending a 4 p.m. service. Normally that would still be during the day, but since the sunset is about 3:52 p.m. it will be dark during most of the service. While this will be the first Christmas Eve service in the Northwest, we’ll celebrate with children and grandchildren to pass on the generational blessing of the greatest story in history – the coming of the Lord Jesus to die for the sins of the world. I love to see children dress up and join the adults to sing the great Christmas carols and hear the story of the coming of the Lord Jesus.

Where will you celebrate the coming of the Lord Jesus? It’s not about gifts, but the greatest Gift – the Lord Jesus.

Have you trusted in Him as your Savior? He is God’s gift to you, because He died on the cross for your sins and without the Lord Jesus, you would be condemned with everyone else in the human race. Don’t let this holy day go by without ensuring that you are growing in your relationship with the God of the universe. You can make that happen by trusting in the Lord Jesus and then joining a good Bible teaching church and seeking someone who will help you learn about the Lord Jesus and how He wants to grow in a relationship with you.

May you be blessed this year!
