Insight: Tear Down to Build Up

As I continue to make progress on the remodel project, I am doing electrical work, but realize my framing is still not done. It’s not possible to run wires where there is no frame to hide the wires. In order to do that, I’ve had to tear down the underside of insulation and then build some soffits.

It’s interesting that these manufactured homes are designed for temperatures below minus 20 degrees! That keeps the plumbing from freezing and the duct work warm, when there is no lower level. We’re fortunate to have a lower level, so he insulation is not really necessary. Consequently, when I exposed the 2x8s to work with the electrical, I had a huge pile of insulation! I’ll put most of that back into place as I proceed, but it will be arranged differently.

It reminds me of how God has to tear us down and then rebuild us according to His specs. There may be some of the old life that needs to be taken away, but then some of the talents that were developed apart from Christianity’s influence can be used for His honor and glory.

The key is the holiness of God. What in your life does God need to remove, rearrange or redevelop? Will you allow Him to make the changes necessary in order to let you choose to honor and glorify Him? Humility is your key, because He is sovereign and He knows what is best. We may not like the remodeling project He is doing in our lives, but again, He is sovereign and we can trust Him.

Solomon said it best,

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Pro. 3:5-6 NKJ)
