This is Part 6 of 6 parts answering a friend’s question regarding the Rapture and end times.
How long will the tribulation last? According to Daniel 9:24-27, it will last seven years,
24 “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. 25 “Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times. 26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.” (Dan. 9:24-27 NKJ)
The seventy weeks (literally “sevens” and this refers to years) includes 69 weeks from the time of decree of Artexerxes in B.C 444, until the Messiah is cut off, which occurred in March of 30 A.D. when Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. That leaves one “week” or “seven” to be completed at the end of the Church Age and prior to the Millennium. This “seven” is call the Tribulation and will be seven years in duration. In the middle of the week, the abomination of desolation will be set up, per Daniel 9:27 above and Matthew 24:15, “Therefore when you see the `abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place ” (whoever reads, let him understand).” (Matt. 24:15 NKJ)
This will leave 3.5 years to the end, “But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.” (Rev. 12:14 NKJ) The “time” is one year, “times” is two years and half a time is one half year, so one plus two plus one half equals 3.5 years. Israel (the woman) will be protected by the sovereignty of God and being hidden from the onslaughts of the Devil.

Thank you for posting this Pastor Bryan, as you know I am an amateur eschatologist and Daniel 9 and Matthew 24 have so much to tell us about this time to come. This peace treaty between Israel and Palestine seems imminent. I is proposed at a 7 year treaty and has been agreed to by dozens of nations an plans for a third temple on the temple mount is proposed where the Antichrist will declare his is god as he ends all offerings and sacrifices. God’s timing is perfect the commission we are called to needs to be fulfilled
