There are people like David, whom God continued to honor, in spite of his sins. David wasn’t perfect, but there was something about David’s life that God continued to honor and hold as a standard of dependency on God and humility. Then there are people, like Pharoah, that God uses to show how dumb people can be and how powerful He is. Then people are in the spectrum in between and there is a spectrum of how much He blesses people, like Israel going into the land. Israel didn’t obey the Lord completely, so we read in Judges that God draws a line,
“….And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? 3 “Therefore I also said,`I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.'” (Jdg. 2:2-3)
Israel obeyed God in many ways, but not completely. They had to face the consequences of thorns in their sides, which would be a test to their faithfulness toward God. Lord, let me not be guilty of partial obedience. Let me not obey You partially, like King Saul. Lord, let me see where I need to complete the work, because I want to honor You completely!
For example, back in April of 2011, 800,000 workers for the government were shutdown. Some say, “They hardly work anyway and they’ll get back pay, so what is the big deal? The soldiers will keep working.” Others would say, “We would be far better off if the work was transferred back to the states anyway.” The Federal government is the most inefficient organization our country has. It is good at the military and internal police for the most part, but wake up everyone, the long term situation is the issue.
Will people get the idea that God is trying to get our attention with weather, earthquakes, draughts, etc? When you remove God from your life, then the consequences of sin in the world multiply. But we have a relative peace that seems to continue especially with the government printing money presses that keep rolling non-stop.
Hello? Has anyone ever read the Bible? Who do we think we are? America, why are you pursuing the gods of the world? Until, we bring the God of the Bible back to the foreground as in 1775-1783, there may be residual blessing, but blessing that is passing like the Israelites faced in Judges 2.
