Teaching on Deposits

Making a deposit is important for the Christian life. The unbeliever makes a deposit of his trust in the Lord Jesus and the Lord makes a deposit into His followers. Are you making good use of His deposits into you?

1) The unbeliever must entrust his soul to God    2 Tim. 1:12

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. (2 Tim. 1:12 NKJ)

By faith the unbeliever puts his trust in the Lord Jesus and commits that to Him awaiting the Day when the Lord will return for him.

2) God makes a deposit of truth to every believer    2 Tim. 1:14

That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. (2 Tim. 1:14 NKJ)

In a similar sense, God continues to commit to us His Word and power of His Spirit, so that we would use them for Kingdom purposes rather than selfishness and personal gain.

3) That deposit is protected through the Power of Holy Spirit 2 Tim. 1:14

That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. (2 Tim. 1:14 NKJ)

The only way the believer can “keep” that commitment is by continuous faith in the Lord Jesus with dependence on the Holy Spirit.

4) The deposit is made through the teaching of the shepherd 1 Tim. 6:20

O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge– (1 Tim. 6:20 NKJ)

Guarding the deposit of Truth does not mean to bury your Bible on a shelf, but review the message, so you can recall it and discuss it with others and pass it on to your disciples. If you do not use it, you will lose it.

5) In suffering, entrust yourself to the Lord Jesus    1 Pet. 4:19

Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. (1 Pet. 4:19 NKJ)

When you will suffer in life, make a deposit of your soul to the Lord Jesus and He will be faithful to preserve you through the suffering so that you can be revealed as gold.

6) The pastor must entrust, deposit to faithful teachers    2 Tim. 2:1,2

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Tim. 2:1-2 NKJ)

Every pastor and spiritual leader must look to make a deposit of Truth and his own life to those who are seeking to follow the Lord Jesus.
