“Begin” by Ken Ham and Bodie Hodge from Answers in Genesis is a great beginner book for new Christians and those who may question the veracity of the creation account.  Ken Ham and his son-in-law Bodie Hodge have teamed up to organize a simple, yet powerful book to  settle the hearts of new believers and anyone who may question the Genesis account of creation.

Ham and Hodge have chosen excellent passages of Scripture with follow up questions and answers to establish a solid foundation for those not settled on their view of Scripture or creation. The passages of Scripture (Genesis 1-11; Exodus 20; John 1-21; Romans 1-16; and Revelation 21-22) are each followed by a question for discussion and discipleship.  They also offer a summary of Biblical history between the Old Testament and New Testament and portions of Romans.  They follow this by an answer to the question, “What does it mean to be saved?”

The last portion of the book answers ten important creationist questions. The ten questions are answered by credible writers with two short pages each. The ten basic questions cover: Six literal days; Radiometric dating; Variety within created kinds; Uniqueness of man; Distant starlight; Global flood; Dinosaurs on the ark; One race; Suffering and death; and the Gospel.

This would be a great Christmas gift book or to anyone who may have questions about the creation of the earth. It is basic and excellent as a discipleship tool.
